Essentials when Travelling

A wee while ago I travelled to Wellington, I had a very small bag of clothes and beauty essentials to take down with me – and I thought that I would share what made the cut into my beauty bag when I travelled.

Skincare Essentials when Travelling

Face Wipes – I took down with me Garnier’s Miceller Cleansing Wipes, these types of face wipes are perfect for your handbag when travelling, either for freshening up when you’re out and about or for cleaning up accidental messes. I used these mainly for taking off my face at the end of the day.

Cleanser – Skinfood’s Cleans All is my go to travel cleanser – I’m not sure why to be honest, It does a great job and it’s just my staple and stays in my travel bag.

Essentials when Travelling

Eye Cream – A girl needs her eye cream. I’ve been using Organic Surge‘s eye gel after being sent it recently. It’s perfect for my sensitive eye area, and upper lip area to keep those fine lines at bay.  It keeps my puffy eyes away and feels amazing on my skin – Just don’t use too much though, the first night I used this I obviously was a bit too generous and put way too much on and it was a little stingy – oops!

Rosehip Oil – I can’t leave the city without some form of oil for my face. Skinfood’s organic rosehip oil is great for travelling skin, its an easy to apply day or night moisturiser, and when you’re travelling it can be your go to all over body moisturiser too.

Hair Essentials when Travelling

Straighteners – When you have a cowlick fringe like mine, you can’t travel without straighteners! The Remington Straightini is my travel essential item. I used it to sort out my fringe, straighten my hair and also to create summer waves before popping out to dinner – even though I have medium-long hair this little guy accepts the challenges I put him through. Overall this is my favourite thing to take travelling – it’s so compact yet so powerful, and it’s small enough to fit into a handbag!

Hair Serum – I’ve been loving Diamond Oil from Redken for my hair over the last few months. It gives it an amazing shine and keeps all my stray hair in place. The bottle is beautiful too and it smells amazing.

Shampoo & Conditioner – Due to limited space in my bag I opted for some testers I got at fashion week from Schwarzkopf of the Essence Ultime range. These testers  were okay, I probably wouldn’t buy them as I didn’t feel like they left my hair feeling super clean and conditioned. One plus – The containers are a great size as you get quite a few uses out of them.

Hair Brush – I was sent this to try out for this trip and I went cold turkey with it, meaning: I didn’t take anything else with me – not on purpose, I actually forgot to pack my comb and hairbrush.  Classic Laura.  The Tangle Teezer was great on dry hair but a little tough on wet hair, I think the combination of a not good conditioner and being a first time user didn’t help the situation but we got there in the end. Since the trip I keep the Tangle Teezer in my handbag and is very handy when my hair needs a quick brush through – it’s also an amazing purple colour and is a great size to hold when using, not awkward as you might expect.

// Makeup & Other

I made only a few additions to my normal makeup bag which included a BB Cream with high SPF count from Garnier, as I new I would have days where I would be too lazy to do a full face but also wanted good sun protection and a little colour. Other makeup products I have to mention are the BDB Mad About Brows kit, which has a mirror inside it so is perfect for the travel handbag for makeup touch ups and brow perfection on the go. Dermalogica’s Ultra Calming primer is a go to primer for sensitive and red skin as it’s green toned to combat red areas. Mary-Lou Manizer highlighter is a must when travelling, makes you look fresh and ready to go with just a few swipes on your cheeks!

I love these types of posts – have you got a travel essentials list of goodies you take with you? Listing all these products out it’s obvious that my travel bag is also my favourites bag!

Some of the products mentioned above were sent to me especially for my trip away to Wellington. This does not affect my review or opinion on them, they will always be honest and my own.

    1. I always empty my make up bag before going away and then re-add everything I want to take with me. A lot of the time I end up adding most of it back and and the double ups are left behind – but I don’t want to not take something JUST in case!
